What is home automation?

Home automation connects your lighting, sound, temperature and security so you can control them from your phone, a wall panel or a schedule. AllTex Construction designs and installs home automation in Plano and North Dallas, ideally while we build or remodel, so the wiring is hidden and the system is reliable.

Who it's for

Homeowners building, adding on or remodeling who want the house to be easy to run, and anyone who travels and wants eyes on the house.

Who it isn't for

If you want a single smart speaker or doorbell, a store-bought kit will do the job without a contractor.

What home automation can control

  • LightingScenes, schedules, dimming and the whole house off with one button.
  • SoundWhole-home audio and media rooms with LED accent lighting.
  • TemperatureSmart thermostats and zones, adjustable from anywhere.
  • SecurityCameras, door sensors and alarm, checked from your phone.
  • Remote managementOne app for every system, at home or across the world.

Why pre-wiring during construction pays off

The most expensive part of automating a finished house is getting wire where it needs to go. During a build, addition or remodel the walls are open, so speaker wire, camera runs and control boxes go in quickly and stay hidden. That's the advantage of having your builder plan it.

Media rooms and LED lighting

Our crews have built media rooms with LED accent lighting, large screens and surround sound, finished as part of the room rather than added afterward.

Questions people ask us

What can home automation control?

Home automation can control lighting, whole-home sound, thermostats and temperature zones, security cameras, door sensors and alarm, all from one app or wall panel, at home or away.

Should I add home automation during a remodel?

Yes, if you can. Wiring is far easier while walls and ceilings are open, so the system ends up cleaner and costs less to install than in a finished house.

Can I check my home security cameras from my phone?

Yes. The cameras and alarm we install can be viewed and armed remotely from your phone, along with lights, doors and temperature.
